Oaken Residences, Howick, Auckland

Located close to Howick Village, the site was formerly occupied by the Howick Borough Council Chambers and was acquired from Auckland Council for redevelopment.

Oaken Residences is a high-quality terraced housing development designed by Leuschke Group Architects for D3 Development. The project was recognised as a finalist in the 2026 Property Industry Awards, achieving a Merit Award in its category.

The development comprises 31 homes arranged across five distinctive terrace blocks centred around a shared communal space with extensive landscaping and pedestrian focused amenities. The retention and integration of several mature trees presented both a significant design challenge and a key opportunity to enhance the character of the development.

The site and planning context were complex, being business zoned, triangular in shape, containing challenging topography, extensive road frontages, and adjoining residentially zoned properties. The site was also located within the Special Character Area (Business Howick), adding a further layer of complexity.

Campbell Brown obtained non-notified resource consent for the project. The end result is a high-quality residential development that makes a strong, positive contribution to the Howick community.
