2026 NZPI Best Practice Award – Statutory Planning

This recognition from NZPI celebrates Rangitoopuni – an iwi-led development within Riverhead Forest on Treaty Settlement Land returned to Te Kawerau ā Maki as commercial redress.

Working alongside Te Kawerau Iwi Tiaki Trust and Avant Group, this project has been grounded in something bigger – a clear long-term vision for the whenua and a commitment to outcomes that honour Te Tiriti, support communities, and create a lasting positive legacy.

It also demonstrates what’s possible when the right people come together with a shared mindset.

We’re proud of the work delivered by our team – Michelle Kemp, Philip Brown, and Isobel Lee – and the way it has helped shape a project with real legacy value.
