We obtained an Outline Plan of Works and non-notified resource consents for the comprehensive redevelopment of Northcote College.

This stunning new block was designed by Ignite Architects, and it is now providing well need teaching spaces the community.

It’s the first phase of a wider school transformation, as they update and expand the College to meet a growing roll and future needs.

We obtained an OPW and non-notified resource consent for the Ministry of Education for a proposal to construct three new buildings including Whare Ako “Te Rito” and associated onsite carparking at Kaipara College.

The buildings were designed by Ignite Architects and built by Woodview construction. Rubix was the project manager.

The proposal involved remediation and seismic strengthening of the existing heritage building, and the construction of an additional building wing for the building to be repurposed as a childcare centre.

The prominent corner site, site boundaries, and existing features presented some challenges for the redevelopment, however, non-notified consent was obtained. The high-quality building design of the new wing responds sympathetically to the existing built heritage values of the Clark Boarding House, with the modern addition being distinguished, but compatible with the existing heritage building’s fabric. Carefully considered landscaping elements, including hardscaping, also contribute to the high-quality outcome.

The successful redevelopment of the building ensures the heritage values of the Clark Boarding House will be maintained into the future, while providing an attractive site for the childcare facility.

The proposal involved a childcare activity in a residential zone, earthworks, infrastructure installation, stormwater management, carparking and signage. The proposal infringed the residential noise standards.
